At Octotel, our commitment to community service is more than a once-a-year event—it’s part of who we are! This Mandela Day, we teamed up with RSAWEB to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Our mission: to spread warmth, hope, and delicious food to the Haven Night Shelters and Janet’s Junction in Phoenix.
Our offices were buzzing with excitement as the Octotel and RSAWEB teams joined forces to whip up some tasty treats. We served hot soups, brewed comforting coffee and tea, and made heaps of sandwiches and boerie rolls. These delicious meals were delivered to the Haven Night Shelters, providing a much-needed boost to those who rely on the shelters. The atmosphere was electric with teamwork and a shared sense of purpose!
But that’s not all! We also put together 100 “Jars of Hope,” packed with pasta mix and soup mix, and sent them over to Janet’s Junction. These jars aren’t just about food—they’re a symbol of our ongoing commitment to uplifting our communities. Each jar was made with love, representing our hope and support for a brighter future for all.
We picked these organizations because they play a crucial role in our community. The Haven Night Shelters offer more than just a place to sleep—they provide a path to a better future for those facing homelessness. With winter’s chill making life even tougher, we knew we had to step up and help.
Janet’s Junction is another shining light in Phoenix, tirelessly working to provide basic necessities to those in need. By supporting them, we aimed to extend our reach and make a bigger impact.
From 8 am to 1:30 pm, the Octotel and RSAWEB teams dedicated their 67 minutes to making a difference. Our head offices transformed into bustling hubs of activity. Tables overflowed with ingredients, laughter filled the air, and everyone worked together, creating sandwiches, brewing soup, and filling jars. It was organized chaos, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way!
At 2 pm, our teams hit the road, ready to deliver the goods. Arriving at the Haven Night Shelters and Janet’s Junction, we were met with smiles and gratitude. Handing out the food and “Jars of Hope” was a heartwarming experience. Seeing the direct impact of our efforts reminded us why we do what we do.
At Octotel, Mandela Day is more than just a single day of service—it’s a reminder to give back every day. Our continuous efforts to support and uplift our communities in the Western Cape reflect our belief in the power of kindness and community. We are committed to creating positive change, one act of service at a time.
